COA Golf Course Update

Our thanks to Travis Eckert, ASGA Austin Parks and Recreation Department representative for making this available to us.

I wanted to touch base with the Golf Advisory Group regarding course conditions.  If you have a yard, you should be blessed with long luscious green grass.  Perhaps too long.  The golf courses received more then 5 inches of rain last week and a few inches in prior weeks.  This has resulted in some beautiful but very difficult turf, especially the rough.  We are using all available resources and staff to catch up with mowing and we will be lowering heights at Jimmy Clay over the next week.  We have to take small steps to avoid scalping and major clipping debris all over the course.

Last year the drought put major stress on the roughs and now we cannot get mowers out of the barn to mow.  It is always something I guess.  The good news is we have some additional backup mowers available with the new equipment purchase and staff from Admin and some pro shop staff will help to cover extra ground.  Temperatures are expected to be up and no rain in the forecast will help us get back on track fairly soon.  Thanks for your patience and please share with your membership.
