Alvin Dupree Steussy, age 94 of Austin, passed away February 28, 2008. He was born May 13, 1913 in Creedmoor, Texas. Alvin was married to his surviving spouse, Louise, for 69 years. He also leaves two sons, Don Steussy and John Steussy, both of Austin. Alvin worked for the City of Austin Fire Department for 34 years. During his younger years he worked two jobs to support his family to which he was very dedicated. In his later years he enjoyed bass fishing with his sons and friends. He also enjoyed playing golf with his sons and the Senior Golf Association. This soft speaking gentle man will be missed by his family and friends. He leaves many nephews, nieces and cousins.
According to L. E. Clarke, Mr. Steussy last played with ASGA in 1987, and although he could no longer play 18 holes, he continued to pay his dues through 2001. Sometimes Mr. Steussy would come out to Morris Williams and ride around with his son, Don, and watch the matches. ASGA offers our sincere condolences to Don and the rest of Mr. Steussy's family and friends.
