Col. Ashley D. (Jamie) Jameson 1916-2009

Colonel Ashley D. (Jamie) Jameson died on Saturday September 12, 2009. Col.Jameson was born on April 4, 1916 in Moran, Texas and grew up in a number of small towns across the Texas Panhandle. After graduating from McMurray College in Abilene, Texas in 1938, he became a Methodist minister and elementary school principal. He entered the civilian pilot training program when the ramp-up to World War II required pilots. He was selected to attend military chaplain's school at Harvard University, and was commissioned a first lieutenant in the Army Air Corps.

Over the next twenty five years he served in positions of increasing responsibility in assignments around the world including Alaska, Guam, Southeast Asia, the Pentagon, and a number of bases in the United States.

After retirement at Bergstrom Air Force Base in 1976, he continued his ministry through counseling and his most enjoyed endeavor-performing marriage ceremonies.

He loved many activities including golf.  According to ASGA President, L. E. Clarke, Col. Jameson was an ASGA member in 1990 and continued to at least 1994.

Col. Jameson is survived by his wife of fifty seven years, Mary Hickox Jameson.

Visitation with family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2009 at the Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2009 at Northwest Hills United Methodist Church, 7050 Village Center Drive, Austin, Texas. Interment will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas at 1:00 p.m. on October 2, 2009.
