Col. (USAF Ret.) James (Jim) N. McJunkin Sr. 1920-2010

Col. (USAF Ret.) James (Jim) N. McJunkin Sr. 90 died on July 18, 2010.   Born in Alabama, Mr. McJunkin attended Auburn University where he met his wife, Julia Ellen Bass. They were married on July 18, 1942, and were married for 57 years until Mrs. McJunkin's death in 1999.

WWII interrupted Mr. McJunkin's education. He  was accepted as an army aviation cadet and flew C-46 cargo planes during the war.  He was able to continue his education after the war and received his degree in Industrial Management from Auburn.  He retired from the Air Force in 1970 after 28 years and through three wars.  He and his wife moved to Austin where he accepted a position at the Texas Highway Department until his retirement.  He actively participated in one of his lifetime passions, the game of golf, until the age of 89.

According to L. E. Clarke, Mr. McJunkin served as ASGA Handicap Chairman for a couple of years.  According to ASGA records, he also served as Vice President in 1993 and President in 1994.  ASGA offers condolences to Mr. McJunkin's family and friends.
