Mr. Davies was born in Cortland, New York and, after serving in the Navy in World War II, graduated from Syracuse University in 1950 with a BS Business Administration. Joe's passion was golf, as he read, watched, and played the game. According to L. E. Clarke, he was president of the Austin Senior Golf Association in 1993.
Mr. Davies was preceded in death by his second wife Frances Davies. He is survived by his first wife, Susan Richards, current wife, Mozelle Davies, his five children, and several grandchildren/great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Calvary Episcopal Church, 603 Spring St, Bastrop, TX 78602 on Thursday December 4, 2008 at 1:00 p.m.
